Whether water is utilized for drinking, domestic use, food production, or recreational activities, the public’s health must have access to safe, readily available water. Improved water supply, sanitation, and water resource management can significantly lower poverty while also boosting a country’s economic growth. 

The UN General Assembly formally acknowledged the human right to water and sanitation in 2010. Everyone has the right to enough water for personal and domestic use that is available continuously, safe, acceptable, physically accessible, and inexpensive. 

What are the advantages of water for health? 

Water makes up between 50% and 70% of your body weight and is the primary chemical in your body. Water is essential for your body to survive. 

Your body’s organs, cells, and tissues all require water to function properly. For instance, water 

(1) Eliminates wastes by urination, sweating, and bowel motions  

(2) Maintains a proper body temperature  

(3) Lubricates and supports joints  

(4) Shields delicate tissues 

Dehydration is a condition that happens when your body doesn’t have enough water to perform regular processes. It can result from a lack of water. Mild dehydration, can wear you out and sap your energy. 

 What quantity of water is required to stay hydrated? 

You lose water every day in your breath, sweat, urine, and bowel motions. You must refill your body’s water supply by ingesting liquids and meals that contain water in order for it to function correctly. 

According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, the following amounts of liquids should be consumed each day: 

• Men should consume 15.5 cups (3.7 litres) to stay hydrated every day. 
• Women need about 11.5 cups (2.7 litres) of fluid each day. 

These suggestions include fluids from food, beverages, and water. About 20% of daily fluid consumption normally comes from food and the rest from liquids.
